As we've noted in many other places, Airfoil for the iPhone just can't be done right now, due to Apple's restrictions. We hope this will change in the future, but at this time, we have no plans for it.

There's no way to get audio from a movie on the AppleTV through the AirPort Express - Airfoil can't help you here, sorry.

I am interested in a solution that can coordinate all my audio/video inputs/outputs throughout my apartment.
I currently have/am acquiring a macbook pro intel, time capsule, apple tv, and airport express w/speakers. It seems that I can get audio anywhere...

however...
I know this may sound strange...
but.. if I am streaming rented movies from the iTunes store directly through the apple tv to my hdtv (i.e. from my router without macbook pro being on) ... how do I get synced sound wirelessly to my airport express speakers? Will they be synced to my rented iTunes movie? I assume that I need to have my macbook pro on with Airfoil on, yes?
I haven't tried iTunes movie rentals yet, so I am not sure about the process. Is airfoil helpful to this situation?

I tried the free trial of Airfoil earlier today and was instantly hooked so registered 20 minutes later! The fact that my Mac mini can pump any of it’s audio sources (including a radio scanner and UK DAB radio) out and on to a Windows box, macbook, apple TV and Airport Express is amazing, thank you! The quality is stunning and very consistent.

It's one of those bits of software where initially you think 'why do I need it?' until you try.. then you wonder how you ever lived without it!

As previously mentioned it really would be the icing on the cake if you developed Airfoil speakers for the iPhone & Touch, and it would also be cool if one or more of the WiFi radio companies could Airfoil as a source, maybe apple have something up their sleeve .. the 'iTunes radio' perhaps.. a portable version of the Airport Express p'raps?

My homebrew version of the 'itunes radio' for portable around the home listening is an FM transmitter feeding from the Mac’s audio out but it’s not digital and prone to fade and inference.

I shall watch this space with interest. maybe Cali Lewis will be showing this off on Geek Brief in a few weeks eh!

(oh I've just ordered a keyspan remote, only £22 here in the UK at the moment!)

I hope that there will also be soon an update of the Windows version. I could'nt resit to buy an Keyspan Remote if I could use it thru the APE in the basement to control my favorit Winamp on the PC in the living room... yeah.

Do somebody know if it's possible to have multiple Keyspan RC receivers? This would be perfect. :-)

Thank you for this little gem of software. A happy Airfoil user from Germany.

Concerned: What hardware and OS are you using? As noted in the Airfoil documentation, an Intel Chip-based Mac (ICBM) and Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) are recommended. The issue is that DVD playback alone uses a great deal of resources, and we then have to capture it, hold it, and replay it. This is really something where faster hardware and newer software is the best answer, coupled with not doing much/anything else on your machine (quit other CPU intensive apps).

Chris - I tested it out with 3.1.3 and Sparkle seemed to pick it up fine. Email me if it's still not seeing it for you.

Any reason why the built-in Sparkle updater isn't picking up this update?
