Using variable tokens in file names and metadata

Audio Hijack’s Recorder block supports the use of variable tokens to automatically name files and apply metadata to recordings. These tokens are available in pop up menus to the right of each File name and metadata field, but they can also be typed manually.

Currently supported variable tokens include:

Session Name
%name
File Counter
%counter
Date
%date
Year
%year
Month
%month
Day
%day
Time
%time
Hour
%hour
Minute
%minute
Second
%second

For tags, the general rule is to use the percent symbol (%), then the text tag, and then an underscore character (_) before the tag.

Title Tag
%tag_title
Artist Tag
%tag_artist
Album Tag
%tag_album
Genre Tag
%tag_genre
Comment Tag
%tag_comment
Year Tag
%tag_year
Track Tag
%tag_track
Disc Tag
%tag_disc

The “Track Count” and “Disc Count” tags are similar to their corresponding “Track” and “Disc” tags, so if you continue typing the “count” portion to those variable names it’ll replace the original with the "Count" version. They are as follows:

Track Count Tag
%tag_trackcount
Disc Count Tag
%tag_disccount
