Notes on potential issues with the “System-Wide Audio” source.

This is an archived article, and it may be out-of-date, or contain information which is no longer accurate.

On MacOS 14.4 and higher, Airfoil for Mac offers a source called System-Wide Audio, which captures all audio currently playing on the Mac. For a brief period, bugs in MacOS itself could cause unexpected audio behaviors. Specifically, when using the System-Wide Audio source, you could hear skips in audio. In even rarer cases, the underlying CoreAudio system of MacOS could restart itself, which can cause some audio-producing applications to stop their audio playback.

Those issues have now been worked around. Simply update to the latest version, and the System-Wide Audio source will work flawlessly.
