Boston, MA - We're delighted to present all-new version 5 of our audio streaming tool Airfoil. This major upgrade is immediately available, with versions for both the Mac and Windows.

If you don't know Airfoil, it's our tool for sending audio to receivers throughout the home or office. With it, you can play music from your computer out through hundreds of different devices.

The all-new Airfoil 5 includes several major new features:

Bluetooth Joins the Party
Most important, Airfoil now supports sending to Bluetooth audio devices. Airfoil was originally designed to work with AirPlay devices like the Apple TV and AirPort Express. Later, it expanded to send to iOS devices like the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch, as well other Macs and PCs.

Now with version 5, it also sends to Bluetooth hardware. That means users can send music to the thousands of different Bluetooth speakers, headphones, and headsets available! A music app like Spotify can be sent to a high-quality Bluetooth speaker (or multiple Bluetooth speakers!), while the rest of the computer's sounds come through the Mac's speakers.

Powerful Audio Capture Improvements
The audio capture engine used by Airfoil for Windows has been completely rewritten for version 5, and it's more robust than ever before. It's now possible to capture audio from any application on-demand, without needing to quit and relaunch that app. As well, the new Airfoil can capture audio from both 32-bit and 64-bit apps, including applications downloaded from the Windows Store! With Airfoil 5, you can stream anything you like.

Team It Up With Airfoil Satellite
Airfoil Satellite is Airfoil's new companion application. It enables audio to be received on other Macs, Windows machines, and iOS devices. Just run Airfoil Satellite on another device, and Airfoil will be able to send audio to it. To top it off, Airfoil Satellite can remotely control the playback of supported applications like Spotify, and control Airfoil itself as well. Users can toggle outputs on or off, adjust volumes, pause music, and skip tracks, all from across the room or across the house.

A Shiny New Interface
The interfaces of Airfoil and Airfoil Satellite have also been refined. There are improvements like longer volume sliders in Airfoil's main window, as well as beautiful new graphics that are fully updated for Retina displays. It will be instantly familiar to users of older versions, while also providing a better experience for all.

There are also many smaller improvements to be found in Airfoil 5. These include:

Speaker Groups
A group is a collection of multiple speakers which appears as one in Airfoil's main window. Use a Group to send audio to multiple outputs with a single click. Create one group for all the speakers in your house, or divide your speakers into zones. Now you can send audio exactly where you want even faster.

Silence Monitor
Great for workplace or shared home setups, the new silence monitor allows Airfoil to automatically disconnect itself when it's streaming silence. The output device is then be freed up for others to use.

Hide Speakers
If you regularly connect to a shared network which contains devices you don't control, you may wish to hide them entirely from Airfoil. Now you can do so, from the “Advanced Speaker Options” window.

Adjust Sync
Airfoil automatically keeps all outputs completely in sync. However, there may be rare situations where you wish to adjust this, such as when an output is connected to a receiver which adds its own latency. The new Sync sliders in the “Advanced Speaker Options” window make this possible.

Airfoil 5 requires Windows 7 or higher, with a free fully-functional trial available on the Rogue Amoeba site. While in trial mode, noise is overlaid on all transmissions longer than 10 minutes.

New users can purchase the full version of Airfoil for Windows for just $29. A heavily discounted upgrade of just $15 is available to all customers who've previously purchased Airfoil for Windows. Finally, users who purchased Airfoil for Windows since November 1st, 2015 will receive a free upgrade in their email.
