New support for Sonos's AirPlay-compatible hardware means Rogue Amoeba's whole-house audio streamer supports more devices than ever.

Boston, MA - Earlier this month, Sonos became the first third-party vendor to ship AirPlay 2-compatible speakers. Following this release, we've shipped a big update that adds Sonos compatibility to our home audio streaming tool Airfoil!
With the new Airfoil for Mac 5.8, users can stream audio to all of Sonos's AirPlay-compatible devices (currently, the Sonos One, Beam, Playbase, and second-generation Play:5). Adding Sonos devices to the mix means Airfoil can now help stream audio to more devices than ever before.
Long-time Sonos users with larger hardware collections should also note that a single AirPlay-compatible Sonos device is enough to enjoy audio on an entire system. Just group older speakers in with an AirPlay-compatible Sonos device, and they'll all receive audio sent from Airfoil.
Users with any AirPlay-compatible Sonos device should download Airfoil for Mac 5.8 now to start streaming any audio, all around the house.

More Compatible Devices Coming Soon

Sonos is the first third-party vendor to ship AirPlay 2-compatible speakers, but they certainly won't be the last. There are many more AirPlay 2 devices coming later this year from Denon, Libratone, Marantz, and others. Like the Sonos hardware, we expect these devices will be compatible with Airfoil. We're thrilled to see Airfoil powering audio streaming to even more great hardware!
