SoundSource 4.2 Helps Users Overdrive Audio, and Much More

Boston, MA - Since it was first released just 10 months ago, SoundSource 4 has proven to be a major hit, with thousands of satisfied customers. We haven't slowed down, and today, we're releasing SoundSource 4.2.

SoundSource is a truly powerful audio control for MacOS. It enables volumes to be controlled on a per-app basis, audio effects to be added to any audio, and the Mac's audio device settings and levels to be adjusted instantly from the menu bar. The new SoundSource 4.2 update brings a slew of new features and refinements.

SoundSource 4.2 Overview

Here's a brief look at some of the major changes in SoundSource 4.2:

Volume Overdrive
The most visible addition in SoundSource 4.2 is a brand-new built-in effect called “Volume Overdrive”, which makes it possible to amplify audio up to 400%. With it, even tiny laptop speakers get louder than anyone thought possible, all without unpleasant digital distortion.

Control of Siri and VoiceOver
All of SoundSource's built-in audio effects can now be applied to both Siri and VoiceOver, with just a single click.

A New Menu Bar Output Meter
SoundSource now offers a new menu bar level meter option, which moves in sync as audio plays from the default output device. Enable it in the newly revamped Preferences window, under "Show output activity in menubar.

Many More Improvements
This update provides battery status indicators for Bluetooth outputs, the oft-requested ability to remove built-in effects, improvements to avoid OS issues with Bluetooth devices, and much more. SoundSource is now also fully compatible with MacOS 10.15 (Catalina).

Additional Details

SoundSource runs on MacOS 10.12 (Sierra) and higher, with a free, fully-functional trial available for download. During the trial, the quality of audio adjusted by SoundSource will be degraded after 20 minutes.
