Custom profiles for Headphone EQ

SoundSource 5.3 and higher supports loading custom EQ profiles into Headphone EQ. This page provides more details on creating and using those profiles.

Creating a custom profile

Preamp: -7.9 dB

Filter 2: ON PK Fc 753 Hz Gain 4.2 dB Q 1.88

Filter 5: ON PK Fc 11546 Hz Gain 7.2 dB Q 1.64

A valid custom preset has a Preamp value on the first line, followed by up to 32 parametric filter settings on the following lines.

Headphone EQ supports common band types that most Parametric EQ support. These can be expressed as:

  • HP (High Pass Filter)
  • LP (Low Pass Filter)
  • PK (Peaking / Bell)
  • LS (Low Shelf)
  • HS (High Shelf)

When a custom profile is loaded into SoundSource, it will be named based on the file name. For example, to add a profile named “XYZ”, simply name the file “XYZ.txt”. You can also edit a profile's name from the Manage Saved Profiles… sheet.
