Welcome to another newsletter from Rogue Amoeba, purveyors of fine audio software for the Mac. I’m CEO/Lackey Paul Kafasis, with information on the recent upgrade to our soundboard app Farrago, as well as details on Audio Hijack updates. Let’s rock!
Farrago 2 Has Landed
Last month, we shipped a major upgrade to the Mac’s best soundboard app, Farrago. Following over two years of work, Farrago 2 includes over 50 new features, along with dozens of additional bug fixes and refinements.
The introductory blog post is the best way to learn all about Farrago 2. Here are just a handful of the new features:
Built-In Editor: Apply fades and crop to get the exact audio you need
Search: Instantly locate sounds in your library
Freesound.org Integration: Find new, free-to-use sounds in Freesound’s massive collection
Preview: Preview sounds prior to live playback
Hardware Controllers: Control Farrago via Stream Deck, OSC, and MIDI
Smart Sets: Use rules to make dynamically updating sets
Lockable Sets: Prevent inadvertent or unwanted changes
Automation Use Shortcuts with Farrago (MacOS 12 and up)
In addition to its many professional uses, Farrago is a greaty way to improve voice calls and meetings. Our audio routing tool Loopback can slot in alongside Farrago to bring music and sounds into your calls. Read this article for full instructions.
Farrago 2 runs on MacOS 10.15 and up. Visit the Farrago product page to learn all about it, and download the free trial.
Farrago 1 users can upgrade for just $25. Visit the “What's New” page to get started.
Audio Hijack Updates
Our flagship recording tool Audio Hijack premiered way back in 2002, but it just keeps getting better. We recently shipped Audio Hijack 4.1, which features an overhauled Session List window, a more powerful and customizable “System Audio” source, and more. It’s a great update, and it’s free for all Audio Hijack 4 users.
We’ve got another big, and free, update coming in the near future. Audio Hijack 4.2 will feature powerful new blocks, including “Parametric EQ” and “Speech Denoise”, as well as many smaller improvements. So long as the app’s “Software Update” setting is on, you’ll be automatically alerted when we ship.
For our Audio Hijack 3 users who haven’t yet made the jump to version 4, that upgrade is still just $29. Click for all the details.
And if you’ve never used Audio Hijack before? Well, today is a great time to visit the product page and download the free trial.
Visit Our Historic Screenshot Archive
We’re still celebrating our 20th anniversary, and as part of that, we recently unveiled a fun project: the Rogue Amoeba Historic Screenshot Archive. We’ve collected images and stories for key product versions from over two decades in business, and organized galleries for each of our products.
It’s a lot of fun to look back at the way things used to be. Come see just how far we’ve all come from the pinstripe-festooned days of 2002.
